Shine a spotlight on shower and bath style

Of all the rooms in the house that depend on reliable functionality, the bathroom is near the top of my list. But while I want everything to work beautifully in that space, I also want it to look attractive, and to cater to my personal likes and dislikes. Sourcing shower and bath style that does it all is no longer the tall order it may once have been. High design faucets and fixtures are easier than ever to find. There’s also a huge focus on customization – both in terms of how piece can look and the features it delivers. Here are a few examples of customizable design and performance I think you’ll love.

Ride the wave of new shower and bath style

MotionSense Wave bathroom faucets from Moen combine great style and hands-free control, with a sensor on the left side of the faucet base in-line with the handle, which turns water on or off with the wave of a hand. The handle on the opposite side lets users manually adjust flow and temperature.

Available in three styles (Cia is shown at right) and finishes that include brushed gold, nickel, or Crome, polished nickel and matte black.

Some matte black models have brushed gold accents, which I love. It’s a look that seems at home in both casual and more refined designs.

Customizable options add a personal touch

Brizo’s new Kintsu bath collection (below) is available with knob, lever, or cross handles. Knob handles can be customized with wood, concrete, mother of pearl, or custom inlays, which adds endless opportunities for personalization. I’m very drawn to the sculptural look of this line, both for shower or tub.

California Faucets has an extraordinarily handsome new shower head inspired by Hollywood’s famous spotlights. The multifunction WaterSconce lets users choose between rain, air, and massage settings for a spa-like shower experience. Get a feel for each in the video below. Available in 25 finishes, and either a knurled edge, similar to the etchings found on tools, or a coined edge, like the side of a dime.
