Once August is underway, there’s a subtle change in the sunshine. It’s still hot – often hotter than ever – but summer is at its apex, and doesn’t seem to stretch out in front of you the way it does in July. It’s the month that wants you to come out and play wth it, tells you to soak every ray of sun and warmth before the nights lengthen and shadows deepen. August begs you to stay outside until the stars reveal themselves. To entice you, it creates balmy evenings perfect for lounging and chatting.
Whether that’s on a patio, backyard, or balcony, outdoor lighting extends the effect.
A lovely example is Nanoleaf’s new outdoor string light. I’ve been testing one this summer, and love it for a bunch of reasons. The bell-shaped faceted lights, for example, which have the look of heavy crystal , and add a BIG sparkle factor, whether they’re turned to warm and bright whites or a rainbow of hues.
There are over 16 million colour combinations, just a few of which you can see above. They can be set to cycle or flash.
I’m more of a steady colour girl, and especially love to see the pink, purple, and blue tones hanging among the trees on my terrace, as daylight slips into twilight. So much fun, and such a simple, cheerful pleasure. Easy to take along camping or to a beach party. I’m also looking forward to using these special outdoor lights at holiday time in seasonally themed shades.
As an oldster, I pretty much stick to basics of the system options, but these outdoor lights all work with all the new-fangled smart voice commands, schedules, and daylight sensors – all of which you can customize and enhance your experience of the August evenings left to us.
Enjoy them while you can, kids.
