Nudestix is an emerging Canadian brand that I’m really excited to share with readers looking for fuss-free ways to handle summer skin care. Their galloping success is SUCH a good news story, and their focus on healthy multi-tasking skincare and makeup just feels right for the times—regardless of your age. The looks celebrate natural beauty and natural ingredients—plant-based products are paraben- gluten- and cruelty free, with vegan options. Colours run from delightful pale pinks to punky purples and warm, brick reds. Gorgeous shades, all of them.
Look to plant-based summer skin care
I first learned about Nudestik when I was sent a promotional package that included Lemon Aid Detox & Glow Micropeel, one of the few exfoliants I’ve used that did not leave my skin red and irritated. Following that with a Tight & Bright Face Mask makes me look like I just got eight hours of sound sleep.
Nudestik items impressed me so so much that I bought another summer skin care product I’ve been hearing great reviews of. Nudescreen Daily Mineral Veil will protect my face all year round from UVA and UVB rays with SPF30. The plant-based formula also works as a tinted moisturizer and as make-up primer.
This reef-safe mineral sunscreen contains no chemical sunscreen actives, and it comes in an airless pump-tube that protects the stability of the formula.
Lighter formulas work best in hot months
The non-oily, nude-finish is light, but it doesn’t take much of it to smooth out skin tones and add a dewy summery glow. There are two tinted options and one clear; a salesperson at Sephora told me all three are flying off the shelves.
I also love the Nudies Matte Blush stick—eye, cheek, and lip colour on one end, a brush on the other. So simple to use. I’m really enjoying the versatile pink Cherie shade I was sent—so flattering to my skin tone, but I’m also tempted by a spicy coral called Picante for the beach. Too much?
A no-fuss summer skin care routine in minutes
It all makes it so easy to give myself a fresh, healthy look in less than five minutes. That’s always been my kind of warm-weather beauty routine. In fact, after quickly applying the Mineral Veil, a few strategic strokes of the blush and one or two passes with a mascara wand (haven’t tried their mascaras yet, but they have lash-lengthening and waterproof formulas), I’m definitely ready for a plant-based Hot Girl Summer. Geriatric version, that is:)
P.S. Since I’ve started covering self-care, I’ve discovered that there are lots of terrific emerging skin-care and cosmetic companies. This is the second in a series. I’m looking forward to sharing more of them soon. Stay tuned, and LMK if you have a favourite brand you think I should cover.
