Oh dear, what will the people who hate fat people and like to wallow around in Reddit groups making nasty, ugly talk about them do now???!!!!!!

Oh well, at least these girlies will have more time for workouts, healthy snacks, shopping for size two jeans, conspiracy theories, and self-satisfaction that they are not fat like me:)

When Stephen Kuhl and Kabeer Chopra started @burrow in 2017, the idea was to design and manufacture easy-to-construct, modular pieces and sell them online.

Inspiration came from impeccable sources-mid-century American modernism, and Scandinavian design.

I've had two pieces supplied by this company- one is an outdoor modular sofa that's on its second summer of being ridiculously comfortable. If I was ever skeptical about the material's ability to roll rain away, Toronto's torrential downpours this summer proved it passes that test.

I also got a Vesper chair and ottoman in camel-coloured leather that I loved (until my daughter and her husband loved it so much I had to give it to them:)

Thinking of filling the space with one of their Lodge chairs, which has a more rustic vibe that I am digging these days.

Both pieces I have were easy-breezy to put together. I did both on my own - including carrying boxes with the outdoor cushions and frame boxes up to a second-floor terrace (hello, I'm 66).

Edited to add that I did not in fact put the Vesper chair together: i just remembered that the Man of the House did that one. What I am actually remembering is MOTH telling me how dead simple it was to assemble the chair. I conflated the two things in my mind (see 66, above).

Still VERY slowing catching up after a few months

Still VERY slowing catching up after a few months of post-POST me-time. That's about the only excuse I have for not writing sooner about @renew.furniture, which is made from recycled bamboo chopsticks. It pains me to admit it launched in May.

Canadian customers have to call a 1-800 line to place an order, and not everything in the line is currently available up here. LOL I'll let you know about the console table and shelf units:)

Wishing all my sisters a heavenly Sunday from weirdly rainy Toronto, where the sky has been LITERALLY every shade of grey, black, and purple except possibly the one shown above over the last 24 hours.

Still, it gives you my impression of the wild, wild weather we had yesterday and may still get again today.

I spent #Saturday alternating between looking at rain out the window and watching in succession The Housemaid, a 1960's Korean film (so strange and so good) a b&w with Jean Harlow and a teeny young Mickey Rooney, and The Miracle Woman (Barbara Stanwyck 1931/she's a fundamentalist preacher who's actually a phony).

I hope as many of you as possible do something similar today - stay home and safe if you are able, and listen to the divine choir within that chants "sit, rest, drink tea, rest some more. Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen".

Take what you need from the day.

During today’s Healthy Morning Walk™️, the Man of the House®️ described to me the online course he just finished @firstnationsuniversity. It sounded SO great that I knew I had to share with my millions and millions and millions of worldwide fans.

The curriculum sounded fascinating, and it’s particularly meaningful that learning is tied to Truth + Reconciliation Calls to Action @truthandreconciliationnow

Fewer than 20 of 94 Calls to Action have been completed, btw.

There was a virtual tour of the bricks and mortar campus in Regina, with a talk from the architect, that he really enjoyed, as well enlightening convos between inter-generational Indigenous voices.

MOTH had such a good experience that he’s doing another course this fall. One of the lecturers will be @christi_belcourt, which was enough to convince me to do the course along with him.

I’ll keep you posted but in the meantime I encourage you to CHECK THIS OUT✅✅✅.

Can’t express enough how enthusiastic MOTH was about the learning he did, and how wonderful it was to hear him talk about honouring it in his work in local community gardening.

Talk about BEAUTY AND THE BATH!

Absolutely BOFFO bath and shower fixtures and faucets coming my way these days. I simply had to share them with all you lovely ones. The topic is top of mind for me as I have a bath reno coming up as soon as I can find a gosh-darn minute!

The shower set above is from a new line from @brizofaucet called Kintsu, which I love for its sculptural form and the fact that knob handles can be customized with wood, concrete, and mother of pearl.
