Sometimes my email inbox throws me something so lovely that I have to share it with you RIGHT THIS INSTANT, dear readers. This one goes out to those who love the work of Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, who says his studio’s goal is to “bring back humanity in the technocratic world of design, and usher in the contemporary renaissance of humanism.” That love of craft, and respect for natural materials is so evident in the contemporary outdoor furniture line- the Maui Collection-Wanders did for Harbour.
Sydney, Australia-based Harbour has been hand-making luxury outdoor furniture since 1976. Given the country’s harsh climate, they know a thing or two about creating outdoor pieces that are both beautiful and durable. Their signature is a passion for classic design and architectural detail, along with a commitment to using long-lasting materials like powder-coated aluminum and mildew-resistant upholstery.
Modern outdoor furniture combines great lines with functionality
This all-weather luxury outdoor furniture line includes seating that features a distinctive radial rope pattern, which illuminates and frames the pieces like a halo. The rippling design evokes a calming rhythm, and a space divider can double as planter box to frame and soften the space with natural, organic elements. Handcrafted Travertine coffee and occasional tables compliment the casual neutral palette, offering colour and visual interest, while blending nicely with a natural environment.
Luxury outdoor furniture comes with high-end prices
The Maui sofa starts at about $6,000. If that’s not in your budget, perhaps the look can inspire you as you search for more affordable modern outdoor furniture.
Contemporary outdoor furniture that’s as hard working as it is handsome? Of course I had to share, even it if’s beyond our budgets.
